  ****Renters Beware**** Vacation Time Rental absolutely ruined our vacation. While others might have had luck with the company we were very disappointed. Not only did we not get to have our month long vacation, we were out THOUSANDS of dollars.

  The cottage they rented us was right beside a loud highway with unbearable sound that you could hear even when you were in the cottage with the door closed. While they did mention "close to HWY 8" in the description I believe a better description was in order as I really don't know who, beside maybe a bunch of young kids who just want to go there to party, would want to rent this place.

  So we decided to rent through an agency and were pleasantly surprised with Vacation Time Real Estate. We found the website quite helpful with it's search capabilities and our rental was exactly as pictured -- beautiful. We were so happy we rented the same property for three years consecutively.

  We have vacationed in Muskoka for many years -- renting a family property that was finally sold - so we had to find a new vacation place. Our first experience renting privately was a nightmare. The renters advertised the cottage was on Lake of Bays -- and guess what, it wasn't. It was on a very tiny lake outside Dorset.

  We rented a cottage for a 3 day weekend with Vacation Rentals, and their customer service was great. They took care of everything, forwarded our questions to the owners several times and put us in contact with the house keeper for last minute check ups and doubts. We celebrated our small wedding in the cottage and everything was perfect. Cottage was exactly as described, and it worked perfectly for our little ceremony and gathering. I have no doubts that we will do ‘business’ again with Vacation Rentals.

  When we tried to get our money back (we had paid for a whole month rental) we were treated as though we were the ones in the wrong. We were constantly avoided and treated as if we should've known better (should've done better research?). We did not stay in the cottage for even one night and were refused any type of refund. We were constantly avoided and made to keep calling back basically the entire month to finally get a "sorry about your luck" answer. Oh and the answer to the jimmy'd door was... "Up here a lot of us don't lock our doors" ... the door wasn't just unlocked it was ajar.

  We were also extremely pleased with the professionalism and helpfulness of all the staff. So much so we used Rosemary King to help us find our own Muskoka vacation property -- that we are now sharing with our family and friends.
